STEVEN
KIRKWOOD BOOTON, M.D.
Steve Booton, M.D., is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Born and raised
in Ft. Worth, TX, he graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and
received his medical degree in 1983 from the University of Texas Medical
School in Houston. He did his internal medicine residency in San Antonio
at the UT Health Science Center. He was on the faculty of the Department
of Medicine from 1989 until 1992. In 1993 he moved to Austin where he has
been in private practice ever since. In 1993 he was named a Fellow of the
American College of Physicians, an honorary distinction awarded by the
national organization that represents internists.
Dr. Booton’s special area of interest is in doctor-patient communication.
He is interested in addressing ways to strengthen the relationship between
doctors and patients. While a faculty member at the medical school in San
Antonio, he taught courses in communication skills to students, residents
and practicing physicians. He believes that clinical skills and medical
knowledge are the vital components of excellent medical care, and communication
skills are a key part of that clinical skill set.
Dr. Booton is an avid golfer. He and his wife Ginny enjoy traveling, reading
and spending time with their cats and dog.
